InBody 580

Advanced body composition

See what the scale can’t show.

Body weight is only one number. It does not tell you how much of that weight is muscle, how much is body fat, where that tissue is distributed, or how those measurements are changing over time.

At MPLC, we use the InBody 580 to establish a more complete picture of your body composition—and to objectively measure meaningful changes over time.

Measure what changed

Two people can weigh exactly the same and have very different amounts of muscle, body fat, and visceral fat.

When the number on the scale changes, it does not tell us what changed. Did you lose body fat? Preserve muscle? Gain muscle? Did visceral fat improve?

That is why MPLC looks beyond body weight alone.

The goal is not simply to weigh less.

It is to understand what is changing.

A more complete picture

What the InBody 580 measures.

Results are interpreted in the context of your history, goals, symptoms, examination, and other clinical information. They are not a diagnosis on their own.

01

Skeletal muscle mass

Understand how much skeletal muscle you carry and objectively track changes over time. Preserving or building muscle can be especially important during weight loss and as we age.

02

Percent body fat

Understand how much of your total weight is body fat rather than relying on body weight alone. Following the trend helps distinguish meaningful change from simple scale movement.

03

Visceral fat

Measure fat stored around the internal organs. This provides information body weight or BMI alone cannot show and can be considered alongside metabolic and cardiovascular risks.

04

Segmental lean analysis

See how lean mass is distributed across your arms, legs, and trunk rather than reducing your entire body to one number.

05

Body water

Review body-water distribution for added context about hydration and fluid balance.

Why it matters at MPLC

One measurement establishes a baseline. Repeated measurements show the trajectory.

Your first InBody 580 analysis helps us understand where you are today. Some of its greatest value comes from following those measurements over time.

As your nutrition, physical activity, medications, body composition, and overall health change, repeat analysis allows us to objectively evaluate your progress.

Measure your baseline. Act on your individualized plan. Reassess what changed. Refine the plan based on your progress.

Especially important during weight loss

Weight loss and fat loss are not always the same thing.

A lower number on the scale does not tell us whether the weight came from body fat, muscle, water, or a combination of each.

Repeat measurements can help evaluate whether body composition is moving in the desired direction—including whether lean mass is being preserved as body fat is reduced.

That information can help guide nutrition, protein intake, resistance training, physical activity, and other parts of your care plan.

What to expect

A fast, noninvasive measurement with useful context.

The analysis typically takes about 30 seconds. You stand barefoot on the device and hold the hand electrodes while a low-level electrical current measures impedance through different areas of the body.

Your results are then reviewed with you so the numbers make sense in the context of your health and goals.

InBody analysis is included in the Executive Health Consultation and repeated for members as part of ongoing care.

Measure. Understand. Reassess.

Over time, we are not simply asking whether a number went up or down. We are looking at what changed, whether that change is meaningful, and whether your care plan should change with it.
